Markid Mike In Philadelphia

I just returned from an AMAZING weekend in Philadelphia for the MLK Weekend Israeli Dance Workshop hosted by Don Schillinger.  I brought up 20 teens from the Yesodot and Kesem Israeli Dance Troupes (I co-direct Yesodot with Pepe Strauss and Kesem is directed by Yesodot alumn Marnina Cowan).  The teens loved the weekend and are now even more enthusiastic about Israeli Dancing!!

At the workshop I taught two dances – neither of which I had prepared to teach at the workshop!  During the Saturday night party, they asked me to teach the mixer dance Chedvat Neurim which is one of my favorites.  Later on during that party, they played Debka Turkit – a favorite of the Yesodot and Kesem troupes as well as my Tuesday night group, but it had never been introduced in Philadelphia.  So they requested that I teach Debka Turkit on Sunday afternoon.

It was great to be a part of such a wonderful event and I hope to contribute to many more in the future!
